Our Next Local Facilities Manager's Connection (LFMC) monthly meeting will be hosted by The Eugene Mission on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 8AM - 930AM. Join us for peer-to-peer networking with local facilities, maintenance and risk management professionals as we discuss topics relevant to our community. Our September meeting will touch on aspects of managing a unique facility, vendor management relationships, preventative maintenance, community partnerships, disaster restoration, business continuity and risk management.
The Eugene Mission facilities are spread over 7.5 acres in the Whitaker District of Eugene, Oregon. With regards to facilities maintenance and management, the Eugene Mission staff is comprised of the department head, one full time maintenance employee and one part time maintenance assistant. The team works to service over 13 buildings which are a combination of old structures (1967) that have been gradually remodeled over the years as well as modern facilities (2013) that have been constructed to service homeless men, women and children in need in the Lane County area. Facilities Director Bill Wanner has been with the Eugene Mission for five years, learning on the job while drawing upon his prior experience with warehouse, logistics, safety and preventative maintenance from working over 16 years at Harvest House Publishers.
As most are aware, the Eugene Mission recently experienced a catastrophic fire that completely destroyed their onsite kitchen facilities. The Eugene Mission kitchen serves over 800 meals a day to its own residents and local persons in need of nourishment. Local Facilities Manager’s Connection (LFMC) will have the opportunity to tour the kitchen which is in progress for being restored by local restoration contractor BELFOR Property Restoration with the assistance of Curtis Restaurant Equipment, Mortier Engineering, City of Eugene, EWEB and many others contributing to the effort to bring this essential service back into operation as soon as possible. LFMC members in attendance for the September meeting will also see how the Eugene Mission is serving the community with their temporary kitchen and have the opportunity to speak with Facilities Director Bill Wanner and Sr. Director of Operations Dana Gray about their unique operation, facilities management, volunteer/support opportunities and the Eugene Mission as a vital service in our community.
