Our next local facilities meeting will be a sponsored lunch meeting on Thursday, April 20, 2017 1130am - 1pm. Thank you BELFOR Property Restoration for sponsoring our lunch - please RSVP so we know how much food to order.
This lunch time meeting will be hosted by BELFOR (587 Shelley St, Springfield, OR 97477) with special guest Eugene/Springfield Deputy Fire Marshal Mark Dahl to assist us in a discussion of fire and life safety. Please email LFMC if you have any specific questions that you would like Mr. Dahl to touch on during the meeting. Some LFMC members have mentioned questions about fire prevention, risk assessments, how to ace your annual inspection, updating your emergency plan, encumbered egress, community outreach opportunities, etc.
Mark Dahl has been with the Eugene/Springfield fire service since 2010 when he joined the team as a deputy fire marshal. Mr. Dahl's background include 8 years as the fire and life safety as well as environmental management for Peace Health, so he is familiar with the responsibilities of facilities professionals. Mark has a degree in environmental health and safety and has worked in the private as well as the public sector to achieve compliance in those areas. In his current role as a deputy fire marshal, Mark's goal is to help people be successful with fire and life safety compliance, bringing a customer service environment to the his duties with the fire department. If you have ever met Mark, you know he is a skilled professional and a personable ally who cares about this community. Eugene/Springfield fire has a 2020 prevention goal where they are going door to door to ensure homes in our communities have working smoke detectors, with help from community partners they are making these resources free to those who need them and this is an area individuals as well as organizations can partner with the overall effort of making our area safe.
Encouraging news - We have had some recent activity with local facilities, maintenance and risk professionals finding us through social media and our website, we had a facilities group from Palo Alto, California reach out to us for some ideas and a few local professionals inquire about the group. Continue to reach out to friends and professionals as we expand our peer to peer network.
Rex, Stephanie and Jon had the opportunity to sit down with Erik Westerholm of NWEEI to discuss the Building Operator Certification program, read that recap HERE. Please contact LFMC if you have interest in learning more as we have the opportunity to bring a course here locally as well as a potential group discount if we get enough interest from the group.
