Stephanie Matthews, who currently serves in the facilities management profession as the Facilities Specialist for Eugene, Oregon based Northwest Community Credit Union (NWCU), is stepping into the role of Director of Local Facilities Manager's Connection (LFMC). For those who are unfamiliar with LFMC it is a monthly gathering of facilities, maintenance and risk professionals who have found value in meeting for free at local facilities and discussing relevant topics among peers. More information can be found regarding the origins and philosophy behind the LFMC group as covered in Facility Executive Magazine.
Stephanie transitioned from 10 years of prior work experience at Northwest in various roles into the facilities management team within the last two years. Stephanie, the facilities team and NWCU saw value in being active participants in LFMC as so she has been a part of this networking and education group for about the same period of time. Her professional experience prior to Northwest Community Credit Union included working at Pentagon Federal Credit Union and EWEB Employees Federal Credit Union (EWEB is also an active member of LFMC).
Stephanie has always had an eagerness to learn as much as she can and to excel in whatever role she was given responsibility for, she is currently enrolled and pursuing her Facility Management Certificate through an online program with Arizona State University (ASU). Participation in the Local Facilities Mangaer's Connection group has provided additional value to her in her role, enabling her to get to know other professionals in similar fields and absorb knowledge from them along the way. With her commitment to growing as a practitioner in facilities and her desire to connect local professionals Stephanie and her team will bring LFMC into the next progression of its growth as an organization.
With regards to core values for her approach to facilities management, Stephanie shares two quotes that come to mind for her: “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful," which comes from Albert Schweitzer. The second is a quote by Henry Ford, “Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.” Adding to this Stephanie shares, "I think there’s a lot of value in enjoying the work you do and in doing it well."
Stephanie will be the primary point of contact for LFMC business as she helps to facilitate monthly meetings. In additon to Stephanie taking on this role, Erik Westerholm of the Northwest Water and Energy Education Institute will be assisting our group as the Outreach Coordinator to help us continue to grow our member and professional base. Both Stephanie and Erik can be contacted through the LFMC Contact page or directly by email email@example.com. We look forward to what the coming years will bring as we continue to connect, collaborate and conquer together. Thank you all for your investment of time and commitment to our local network, together we will keep this momentum and build upon our accomplishments.
